The Power of Caffeine

Not bad eh?

3 hours of sleep + 1 cup of coffee = Work from 8.30am - 7pm with hardly any break!

At least I've already caught up with my slept debt.

Holiday!! =D

My job gives me no annual leaves and public holidays (loooong story). I have 4 weeks of holiday a year though - 6 days actually this time & I enjoyed myself to the fullest!

On Monday, I went to the KLCC Bookfest with my sis, Tracy, her neice and Ivan. Not really for the books, but for the InnerTalk talk. Innertalk is a subliminal self help program thingy, so just to find out more. Bought some photo albums, notebooks and craft stuffs. Opps?

Oh, and we had all you can eat pasta for lunch! Very affordable. Only about 14 bucks for unlimited plates of pasta, drink, salad, soup and ice cream! Yum yum. But because I'm a small eater, only had two servings of pasta (which are quite small). The pasta itself is not bad.

On Tuesday, went to PD with Randall, Tracy and Ivan! Had delicious charsiew rice in Glenmarie and off to PD. We had a scrumptious picnic tea at about 6 and then went back and had steamboat dinner at 8.

Healthy right? The steamboat soup is herbal soup leh! LOL

On Thurs, had Bahkutteh with my grandaunt, aunt and uncle. Stayed at home crafting and playing with my dear little sister. Helped prepare and had a delicious dinner. Went out for a drink at night with Randall. =)

On Fri, went for Cars 2 with the siblings. Window shopped a little and bought more stuff. Opps? HAHA. Btw, Cars 2 was utterly disappointing. Nothing like Cars at all. =(

On Sat, had birthday lunch for my grandma with dad's side family. All the cousins reunited again (at least it wasn't so awkwardly quiet this time). Went to Bangsar and window shopped with Randall. Then we went to the Smokehouse to celebrate my birthday - be-earlied.

Certainly was a week well spent! =)

Ps: I would have put up more pics but my netbook is reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaallyyy laggy. I guess I'm not a good blogger eh?



Workaholic?

They say find a job you love, and you will never work another day in your life. True. I found a job I love. The thing is, they forgot to warn you that because you love your job, you might turn into a workaholic, neglecting others in your life. You feel guilty about it but there's nothing much you can do about it. Sorry. =(

Dreams =)

I just finished Glenn Doman's How to Multiply Your Baby's Intelligence. It is inspiring and all I wanna do now is have kids so I can teach my children! But I think I'd be skipping a few steps along the way. LOL. Well instead of just teaching my kids only, I'm gonna open my own child care center and develop geniuses!

Just to brainstorm my ideas (I always jot down ideas in random notebooks which I forget so this time I write it down here):

My center is gonna be a day care for babies onwards - from what I see, there is a great need for it! At this time when the baby's brain is developing rapidly, do you just wanna let your baby stay with a babysitter and watch TV all day? Cos that's what's happening!

Anyway, some components in the schedule: gym time - there'll be physical activities like in tumble tots or gymboree where there's lots of equipment etc. nap time - when children nap, we'll play classical music or other forms of educational videos so that children have subconscious input. There will be flashcard time of various topics from nature, geography, reading, maths, science and we'll teach all three languages since this is the time children can pick up multiple languages best. We'll have lots of educational toys for children to play and pretend play. For older toddlers, we will have Montessori materials as well such as the sensorial and practical life materials (absolutely love them!) There'll be large group time where children sing songs, dance, learn rhymes, listen to stories. Also messy play and arts and crafts and painting and collages and water play and sand play and sensorial tables where children explore and play and discover and LEARN! Parents will also be encouraged to participate together too!

Blowing off steam

I don't understand why in the world we need to do this. This is unnecessary. The child is able to turn pages singly, draw shapes, build towers. So, yay, good job child. You are developing your fine motor skills like other kids out there. WHY DO I NEED TO SUPPORT THIS OBSERVATION WITH THEORIES ON WHY SHE IS ABLE TO DO THIS? Why is she able to build towers with blocks? Why she is able to turn pages?

You think teachers are so very free that they go find theories to find out why a child can build blocks? This crap is just not practical. No teacher in the right mind does this nonsense.

Can't wait to just finish this nonsense up.

I Go to School at Beaconhouse

I have finally completed my 240 hours at Beaconhouse! It has been an amazing experience. Even though I was WAAAAY underpaid (If you really want to know, I got less than 2 bucks an hour), I really don't mind. After all it is just an internship and I wasn't supposed to get anything in the first place. And what I didn't get in terms of money, I got paid by the children with love.

Teaching is really such a rewarding career. You get to play with children, comfort them, help them grow, be their best friend. It's really amazing. You are their "mummy" in school. Especially for those who just entered school. They have such a hard time because they just miss their parents so much. They need someone to comfort them, to assure them that mummy will come back. And they get attached to you. Can you imagine the impact that you make when your mere presence comforts them? I'm glad I was there for these children. I'd like to think that I made a difference in my life just as they have made a difference in mine.

They gave me so many hugs and kisses. (Sorry dear, don't be jealous ya. Lol.) I will remember each smile, each laugh, each hug and store it in my heart forever. I love all of you children so much.
