Books

10. My Name is Iran
After reading The Prisoner of Tehran, I stumbled upon this at a sale and was hoping that it would be alike. But this was a bore and I struggled to finish it.

Rating: 2/5

11. Carly's Voice
Carly is autistic and she has found her voice through typing. A truly inspirational story. It is amazing what parents of special needs go through. I especially loved the parts which Carly wrote.

Rating: 4/5

12. Seeking Spiritual Beauty
Sheila is an amazing writer. Inspires me truly to be the best christian I can be.

Rating: 4/5

13. Last Song of Dusk
It's been a long time since I read novels. Now I remember why I love them so much. Truly beautifully written.

Rating: 4/5

14. Can You Keep a Secret?
I read the Mandarin version of this years ago, and when I was rereading the English version, I seriously couldn't remember the story at all! But Sophie Kinsella is the one and only chick lit author which I read and she never disappoints!

Rating: 4/5

15. The Gatecrasher
It's written as Madeline Wickham who is actually Sophie Kinsella. It's a different kind of novel, with a more serious tone. I didn't like it as much as the Sophie Kinsella kind.

Rating: 3/5

16. Have a Little Faith
I would say it is thought provoking for me...

Rating:3/5

17. The Hunger Games
Oooohh I love love love this! The book is better than the movie (Though the movie was great as well, unlike Harry Potter where the books are awesome but the movies are horrible except for Emma Watson).

Rating: 4.5/5

18. Positive Discipline the First Three Years
Great book with lots of helpful insights and guidelines to raising young children. I would recommend this to every parent. This is a must have for parents

Rating:4/5

Cupcakes!

So I've wanted to do cupcakes for a loooong time now. The type with fondant icing and it looks so professional. I even bought the cookie cutters, and they have been sitting in my cupboard for awhile now. (Lazy)

My mum decided to "make" cupcakes for mothers day for Sunday School. No we didn't bake the cakes or make the icing. She bought normal cheap kueh neng kou and fondant icing from the bakery. (Shortcut)

Last Saturday night was spent mixing food colouring into the fondant icing and laughing at my mum. It's just like playing play dough! Only this, you are supposed to eat it after fondling touching and squeezing the dough so much. (Kinda repulsive eh?)

Oh and we laughed at my mum cos she doesn't know there's 3 primary colours only. She was like, why you only got 3 food colouring. Enough meh? So we tested her, what colours make orange, and she said, blue and green!!! HAHAHA That just makes turqoisey green =.=

I didn't join the cupcake making in Sunday School cos I was in the baby class. There was leftover so we continued the fun back home.

Cupcakes by my sister.

Cupcakes by yours truly.

Su Yen stabbing icing.

"Photo shoot" for mothers day contest.

Lazy boy didn't bother to help clean up.

Love my family!!

Highlight of the day - Jin Jin's cupcake!! He was actually enthusiastic about decorating the cupcakes and was trying to be creative by mixing many colours. I told him that it would just become brown and he said he wasn't going to mix it nicely (I guess he was hoping to get paddle pop kind of colours, but no.)

Happy Mothers' Day, Mum!!

Musings

I am ambitious. I make plans. But my plans change.. I don't know what I want.. Actually I do know what I want. I want too many things, I can't decide what I really want...

Hmm..

I want to continue my studies, but I want to work. I want to do both at the same time. Solution: online course. I want to do a degree at a good uni overseas which is not expensive (HAHA Dreaming). I don't want to do a overseas degree cos it's so crazy expensive. Crazy. So I guess I'll do a cheaplak Malaysian degree just to get my "paper".

I learn through work more than I learn through study. I want to work and try different approaches and programs. With my eagerness I doubt I can settle down at a place long term. I have "itchy butt syndrome" - need to get up and try new things. Although I am very comfortable at my current workplace - enough money, happy colleagues, ok working time, bearable workload - I think I won't be here too long.

And then there's the option of going overseas. For my masters perhaps? Work + study, settle down? That, I will have to wait and see. That would be more long term.

I still want to open my center, but I guess that won't be in my 5 year plan..

In all this uncertainties, at least I have one plan that is certain. About one and a half years till my dreams come true! Can't wait for it!! ;p
